+1 for private offshore wiki, example in malaysia or panama ,I just lost 20 gigs of info to a botched LUKS upgrade. Things can go terribly wrong when you encrypt a disk that way. I've had good luck and now some bad. I actually still have my data, the partition table is what died the death. I still have no idea what happened. I added another luks to the one I had already. I had a spare partition with nothing on it. Everything worked great until reboot, now both luks partitions show up as unallocated space and will not mount no matter what I do.

Tor is the way to go. Hard bulletproof is not only expensive it also does not deliver the same protection as Tor.
Equally important is that running as a hidden service forces (almost, excluding tor2web sites) users to connect through Tor, keeping them safe as well.
Honestly, all of clandestine chemistry needs to begin disappearing into the Et2O of Tor. Tor requires a certain level of competence and motivation, which should help filter out those who are engaged in drive by gawking and vicarious fantasy chemistry, as well as much of the dumber reporters and law enforcement. Anybody who can't get Tor up and running with the abundance of graphical tutorials is not going to be capable of safely carrying out clandestine reactions to completion.
The best file sharing sites are not in public view either. They don't need something as strong as Tor, but they still can't be part of normal mainstream Internet society.

Next time you can use dd to back up the volume's partition table and headers to another medium. Barring that, get a USB drive and execute a copy. Good sized sticks are cheap enough.

more money than I want to spend, more work than I wanna do.
Its the members burden to keep it secure. Also if you follow the rules... it shouldn't matter.
But they are good ideas, and been talked about and considered before -- maybe some day in the future. But not any time soon.
