Equipment: Versatile Clamps

Versatile clamps connect to a ring stand at one end and to glassware at the other end. They are designed for clamping cylindrical shaped objects.

The middle of the clamp has a nut which can be loosened. When loose, the clamp is free to turn to a new direction, hence the name "versatile" clamp.

The wing nut on the clamp part often becomes stripped and the clamp no longer will stay closed. If your clamp does not work, try a new wing nut first: they are located on the cart in the front of the stockroom.

Location: Student drawer equipment. You should have three in your drawer.

Cost: $13.35. However, since these are not "breakable" in the same manner as is glassware, the management usually assumes that you have lost them rather than broke them, and you are not charged. The management reserves the right to change this policy at any time, so always put them back into your lab drawer at the end of the experiment instead of leaving them attached to the ring stands.
