Good stuff soap. SWIM's Ketone is also distilling as we speak. SWIM's got about 80ml now and still has about 1hr to go. SWIM will also post pics of his ketone. It's yellow with nice green overtones. Ok peace out.....

Ok here is SWIMS Ketone he dreamed of. This is just a good representaion of what SWIM gets on a normal Benzo Wacker. The scale reads 115G. The color is yellow akin to antifreeze with slightly green overtones . Cool

wow, sure makes swim here feel offly humble... well hes got 8.3g of ketone so far, and theres plenty more to come. waisting a lot of water here folks.. i think swim will stop distilling at 12.5 g because he needs the time to get ti reacting (very long day tomorow!!!) then hes going to go ahead and do the final reaction, let that run as long as possible. wow d. t. im so jealous...

ok so it looks like im stuck with 8.3 grams for now, maybe he will get 5g in the end... so heres what he plans on using: 9.5g al foil, 8.3g mdp2p2, 7ml nitromethane, 200mg hgno3, 500ml MeOH, + 25ml for addition. all this wil be put in a 2l flask with an clandisen adpater, adition funnel directly above flask, then 300ml liberg condenser off to the side, with semi cold water (ran out of ice almost!!!!) no heat will ever be added. sounds about right? think he might put a condom on top or a bag or something...

day of graduation and swim got about 2 hours of sleep... ughhh the aluminum was not reacting wiht the hgno3. swim let it sit for so long, doing quick burts every now and then. eventualy added another 400mg of hgno3, nothing happend. so heat was applied and rapid stirring, slight bubbling but after 2 hours nothing. the hgno3 was not soluble in the methanol and just to make sure that it would get somewhat in solution a few ls of dh20 were added. still didnt desolve. well 2 hours after swim woke up he check out the reaction, still hardly anything. so he decided to start to add the mdp2p nitro methanol mix drop by drop with stirring. as of right now the solution is a bluish gray, but a lot of the alfoil is still shinny. this was swims last chance at this reaction for a few months at least so he decide to do all that he could to get some product. ughhh any idea how swim could possible improve his product? would allowing i tto sit for several days help? this is very very sad...

SWIMs experience with letting it sit for a couple of days lead to highly reduced yields(1g from way too much). The free base will decompose readily, more so in harsh conditions. If all your ketone is in...SWIM doesn't know what to say....find some hgcl2? Have you tried amalgamating some aluminum outside the reaction, then introducing it. Whatever you do, breathe deep,don't panic. If all your ketone isn't in, swim would try again. Amalgate..then meoh...maybe. good luck...

well all of the ketone definetly is in... swim will eventualy get out fo bed and try extracting and gassing whatever he may have made. but hey graduation money! looks like swim can buy some new equipment and percursers so he will go ahead and get abck to the drawing board. what he dosnt understand is why the hgno3 did nto amalgamate the al? he tried it in the past and it worked just fine (same reactants). also if some people run this reaction for up to 36 hours, should any yeids i may have had, decompose after just 2 or so days of the initial reaction?
