Ok,
after a bit more work and a watchful eye.notes etc...
swiy belives he's got it right for the ketone. swiy as well has be tip'd off how to go about test'n the ketone. swiy will post this after with his write up after he finish's a Al/Hg and test the product. swiy belives the ketone looks as the pic below.
but as well swiy has been told one can not go by just the color alone. As well after test
swy will give shout outs to the ones that have help swiy and put up with his redundant
questions.
Much thanks |

2spun it looks like your reactions are going wonderfuly! britonjx (sp) swim is so glad that the oxone worked for you.
Swim went ahead and put the messed up mixture off to the side and took a break. (just got his wisom teath removed so he has plenty of vitamins to relax with anyway he went ahead and reacted his remaining 2 oz of sassafras oil (once distilled) with 4g of koh. unlike last time the mixture quickly turned dark once heating and stirring started (last time it got a little brown) well its running right now, should eb doen tomorow morning. thanks all for the help |

| just wanted to make a reference to the initial posts on this thread - this is why to use a suckback trap with an aspirator. you might be lucky, but maybe not. it often happens when you get a small bump, the whole pressure situation inside the apparatus rises suddenly and then drops suddenly, causing there to be more vacuum inside the vessel than in the aspirator, and then you get water. a suckback trap means that this fairly common event does not result in water in the boiling vessel, or the receiver, depending on where the vacuum is attached. (usually above the receiver). |
