1-phenyl-1-propanol to Meth

After a little UTFSE action, swim got interested in Meth.  Swim has access to Propiophenone (93-55-0), and 1-phenyl-1-propanol (93-54-9).

Swim is wanting to convert the above into b-methylstyrene.  Swim saw that this could be done, but does not have enough experience or knowledge to understand the write-ups.  Swim at this point is merely a drone bee with decent lab technique and equipment.

The idea is to run it(b-methylstyrene) through the buffered performic, then hydrolisis w/ 15% H2SO4 for 3 hours,  Distill over P2P,  Al/Hg reductive amination of using nitro just like X.  Racemic Meth.

Swim only has experience and glass for distillations and reductions.

Swim doesn't expect to bee spoon fed here, but if anyone out there with some experience has some time on their hands, and they are experienced in the conversion of 1-phenyl-1-propanol --> b-methylstyrene, any info given would be appreciated.  The stuff found in TFSE was just a little over swim's head.

you can find another way to get propenylbenzene from propiophenone by heating it with aluminium isopropoxide.
