Inspired by the lateral chemistry of Dr Strangegloves, I think somebody should have a look at this.
To a 500ml beaker, somebody added
15g AgCl2,

15 g cucl2 and 200ml of meoh

AgCl is insoluble in the common solvents. Don't think that this will work.

The Ag atom is not big enough.
p-orbital overlap is minimal with Ag and cannot catalyze the reaction. With Pd the charge to volume ratio is as good as your going to get. Pt and Rh come close ...
