Other than what? Search harder or buy a few thermometers. The ones with the silvery stuff in them.

Just get some metallic mercury from thermometers or thermostats, and add it to the 2% I2, 2.4% NaI tincture at a ratio of about .004g Hg/ml.  Then measure out 15mL of solution for a run using 25g of Al.  No sweat.  Fuck trying to find uses for other salts.
