palladium on char.?

swim was wondering where swim might find palladium on charcoal for hydrogenation. can swim find this otc. or at some kind of hobby shop thankks

It is a specialty chemical - and very expensive, too. It is only used for chemical reactions involving hydrogen, usually (de-)hydrogenations, and has no other common applications that could serve as an excuse...

(think you will have to find a chem supplier to be able to buy it, nothing OTC...  ::) )

Yep - but the prepared Pd/C has a very low acitivity if not done right...

(carbon particle size/shape seems to play an important role, as well as how deep the Pd is merged into it)

Better use your time searching for a chem supplier that will sell you 10 or 25 grams of good quality Pd/C 10%! It is worth the hassle and high price, really.

And make sure you use the opportunity to ask for NaBH4 and LAH, too...  ;)
