Hi!

I have scanned some chemistry ebooks and thought that they might be from interest for you. They're not all on organic chemistry, but you should like all fields of chemistry equally well  :)

book #1:
title: Practical Organic Chemistry
authors: Frederic George Mann, Bernard Charles Saunders
publisher: Longman
published: 1978
number of pages: 598
filesize: 29 MB

book #2:
title: Modern inorganic chemistry - an intermediate text
authors: C. Chambers, A. K. Holliday
publisher: The Butterworth Group
published: 1975
number of pages: 459
filesize: 19 MB

book #3:
title: Nitration and aromatic reactivity
author: J. G. Hoggett
publisher: Cambridge University Press
published: 1971
number of pages: 252
filesize: 11 MB

The books are PDF files which are compressed with WinACE archiver. The PDF file is composed of bitmaps, with the OCR'ed text laying beneath the images, thereby making them completely searchable.

Since good webspace is rare, I can only offer you a download by Streamload. It works as follows:
Sign up for a free

Streamload account

Give me your streamload username (post it in this thread or send me an email) and I'll streambeam the books to you. Afterwards, you will be able to download them.

Note:
You have a 50 MB quota on Streamload. In order to download all three books (59 MB), you can do one of the following:
- Wait until your quota has been automatically reset after one week.
- Create a second Streamload account, send one of the files to this account and download it from there.
- Upgrade your streamload account for a fee of $4.95 / month and get a quota of 1000 MB. Anonymous transaction is possible.

Aurelius

now that several bees have these books could one upload these books to the hive (ie-pdf files or the like in the ChemisTris? thread)

Bwiti

Or, a share-ware program like Kazaalite or Grokster. 8)

Aurelius

is that what you decided to go with?

Rhadon

I don't think filesharing programs would be a good idea because they do only work if many people share a certain file, what is not the case. They are also insecure.

gruns

Good one guys, your names and addresses are now a
rubber-stamped subpoena away from being under the eyes
of the spooks, unless that is you took all the proper
precautions while using that service, which I doubt.

Jiminy christmas, if you're gonna tell somebody that info,
take it to private messages, better yet encrypted email!

NO EXCUSES, you know better.

Rhadon

Although I don't think that the results of this carelessness (which is at least partially my fault) are as devastating as you say, the manner in which the books were distributed lead to risks that could have been avoided.
In my next release (which will be very soon btw) I will only accept PMs which tell me a new streamload username which do not contain parts of the hive username of the respective user.

gruns

Yeah, chances are the spooks aren't chomping at the bit
to catch us all, they've got enough to chew on with what's
right in front of them... then again...

Network Technician Dan sez: there is ALWAYS a trail

Thanks for putting up these books, I'd love to get a copy,
but I think I'll wait until a more secure method is obtained ;p

Disciple

Can some kind bugger host these on a web/ftp site?
or rhadon can you put these up on that ebook site like you did with advanced org synth

Rhadon

Sorry Disciple, but I don't think that I'll upload this books to some webspace, since I'm quite short in time and the filesize is larger than that of Advanced Organic Synthesis. This would probably result in the fact that they'd be kicked quite fast and the work was for nothing.
Anyway, I'll gladly send those files to your streamload account!

Modern Analytical Chemistry by McGraw Hill
and lots of other computer programming books..

It's a personal server, or maybe a private, hi-jacked one, either way it probably won't be up for long... and I can't vouch for security, but rest assured it's being frequented...

carboxyl

Damn I was too late!  >:(  Thanks anyway though!  :)

Rhadon......and everyone else

Paul N. Rylander: "Hydrogenation Method"

...........a great book to have . What are the chances of getting this book uploaded  this would be an asset to any bee's refrence library. In this book may be some answers to hydrogenating  amino acid alcohol  to simplyfy the conversion of phenylalanine >>by (sodiumborohydride)>>amino acid>>>by hydrogenation.and a catalyst?.>>>>amphetamine........

So the info will be well used by the bee's.......give it a try!
