Ephedrine extraction from Minithins

SWIM has UTFSE and looked at other techniques to purify psuedoephedrine from Sudafed pills however SWIM couldn't find the information for purifying and extracting the 25mg ephedrine from the 50mg caffeine and binders from the red capsules you find in 'Minithin 25/50' bottles (Red gelcapsules not the minithins that are small white tablets w/ guafenisin sp?).  SWIM would much appreciate any info on the above.  Thanks

if it is eph hcl you are extracting, xylene/toluene soaks
followed by a methanol pull/evap and a/b should work.

Well, I followed the link to the list of chemicals and their solubilities, but caffeine was not on the list. I recently found a bottle of these 25/50 red mini thin capsules in my medicine cabinet, and am ready to put my chemistry to work. Has anyone else used the 25/50 for ephedrine in a cook?

Don't sweat the caffeine...it's a stimulant right?
After the A/B, it will be easier to determine the quality and decide on any necessary extra steps toward further cleaning....

Is "goofy," Ephedrine?

Swim is sure his spelling in wrong, but Wareami is referring to Gaufinisen.  It is an expectorant added to the ephedrine pills.  It impedes extraction, but isn't soluble in Naptha.

no, acetone isnt a nonpolar solvant, but acetone washes wouldent be a bad idea, check TFSE for techniques and stuff.

Naptha is indeed a nonpolar solvant, and may work as a substitute against certain gakks, however xylene and toluene are more aggressive so they would probably work better....

Have always used pseudophedrine hcl. instead of ephedrine.
Ephedrine is almost always compounded with goofy or guy and
is a real mf to get clean even with the coleman technique
or naptha.(same synth)At least in mine and my friends dreams
pseudo is easier to make pristine than E.

And I'd still stick to the suggestion that these most likely have _all_ of the new mega gakks in them.

I know that technically ethyl cellulose is euradigit but is hydropropyl methyl cellulose also the euradigit mofo?

If so these pills are as gakked as they come.
