Unique approach leaves you with a 4- or 6-nitro indole, or plain indole. To use it, the nitro would have to bee reduced to the amine, diazotized then zapped to the hydroxyl. A long way around, good when you're beating swords into plowshares and have a lot of TNT to get rid of.
