If it were chloroform, which if it is a chlorinated solvent, I'd guess that is what it would be, what do you think the yield would be? How many mL's did you get, or was this just one of those "toss together and watch" experiments?

Yeilds... I would have to say that most if not all of the acetone was converted but its had to tell because it does not want to clump into a compleatly solid(liquid) layer because it was such as small scale and I would think that salts are binding to the small globuals stoping them from condensing. A distillation should clear it up. This warrents further investigation the right way I think. Since I need my acetone it may be a few weeks first. Because sedits a poor mother fucker and that acetone must go to something else in the near furture. BTW when it is droped into clean H2O the yellow color of it clears up and it becomes clearish white.
