Further improvements...

Since the last 4-methylaminorex postings, further improvements to the shake'n'bake method has been discovered. The final missing milestone in the synthesis was the lack of a decent salting procedure. None of the methods originally devised by Eleusis / Zwitterion actually worked for making the salt. Several bees have tried the method and all failed.

The only way of making a salt is by adding equimolar amounts of hydrochloric acid, adding 10X xylol and azeotropically distilling the water / xylol away. Xylol binds water to a greater extent than toluene, which makes it more suitable for drying stuff. After the solvent has been stripped, some acetone is added and the whole mess cooled in the freezer. This will leave glister white crystals of the hydrochloride in near quantitative yields.

I asked my lawyer about the legality of trans-4mar and gave her a run-down of what was explained to me in that regard.

DEA specifically scheduled cis-, and left out trans-... that combined with the sentencing given out after the lab bust in Florida in 04, set a precedent in the US, so yes, completely legal to own, and make, and use, in the US.

In order for it to become scheduled/controlled the DEA actually would need to prove that is is being abused.

The DEA documents on this matter are written in a very deceiving way - read between the lines. The chemist who was arrested in FL was only charged for the little but of cis-4mar he had made.

Of course, this is not a perfect solution by any means, given that the only way I ever read to trans-4MAR involves PPA which is controlled (may be available as syrup for bitch incontinence - by that I mean vet, and female dog, of course) though Akabori comes to mind (never tried it)

Oh, and it looks like Bandil (whom I don't know) posted *after* the chemist who was making trans- had been arrested.

I kinda liked 4-mar.  Never over did it, tho.  Was a badass as a stim to use at work.  But in moderation.  Had a buddy that liked to go hard, and he complained of similar effects to the ones that jon described in another thread.  Wasn't a very recreational stimulant, imho.

I would describe its effects more like that it will put your thinking schemes in a more serious and realistic way than other stimulants, you are less likely to engage in only fun activities like most euphoric stimulants will do.
e.g. On methamphetamine people are having several hours sex, whilst on 4MAR they are more likely to solve a calculation problem and spend the same time on it.
