There are sites that check files for potential malware that do about 30 checks with different companys virus scanners . Someone could check that ark with one of those sites if they care about it . A lot of malware scanners are not reliable and produce false positives . Doing a check with one of those sites would clear up if there is dangerous software in that file .
Sorry, but this isn't true. It's actually quite trivial to outwit antivirus software even today, even all of the scanners combined at virustotal.com. Especially since the malware doesn't have to do anything that malware typically does, such as try access the file system or system memory, hook system functions, or engage in polymorphic behavior (it's not going to spread, so A/V will never have a signature for it - as a side point, there is a way to write fully polymorphic code that absolutely no A/V picks up). All it has to do to compromise YOU is to connect back to a server to load a web page or something else similarly innocuous at which point your IP address is forfeit. Wouldn't want that to be in the hands of a corrupt cop - of which there are many. Anything executable does NOT belong in an archive made for bees. Sitting here stunned right now by how reckless this is.
