the cactus he isolated the sedatives from were trichocereus macrogonus, but for those of us who used to make teas back in the day can account first-hand that pachanoi, peruvianus, bridgesii all have sedative alkaloid(s) in them as well.  you can find lists of alkaloid content of these cacti, but not much info is available out there on the activity of all the alkaloids, nor whether the lists are 100% accurate or not.  so it is a bit of a gray area unfortunately until more research is done on the trichocereus cacti

Thanks.  That is some really useful info.  I think there is value in a holistic approach to extraction.  I know I would rather have as close to the same psychedelic profile of the original contained in the extraction as possible, so I'll be looking to capture these sedative alkaloids.  But my reading of the material on that link is that the only way to get those sedative alkaloids is to precipitate crystals out of xylene, then filter.  The alternative presented, of adding water to the mix of xylene and precipitate to dissolve the crystals in water, would seem to select only the mescaline salts, the sedatives being insoluble in water right?  Likewise the additional purification of recrystallizing in water/alcohol mix would have the same effect of isolating the mescaline and dropping the sedatives, correct?

This is the first tek that I came across when I first became aware of the trichocerous mescaline bearing cacti and it has never failed me.
The end result has been of good enough quality that it is good to dose as is but a simple acetone cleaning and re-dissolving and evaporating in water to get a much nicer end result.
This has been w/ simple titration although I may try gassing w/ HCl next time.
The work I have seen via the MEK method have been the creme de la creme so to speak though.
The finest, whitest Mescaline one could hope to see outside of a professional lab.

have you bioassayed mescaline via smoking? I have heard that it is theoretically possible but haven't been able to find any reliable reports on such.
Avoiding the 3hr wait for liftoff would be great.
