Toady knows of a way to make it into a searchable copy.

Use the tool on  ht tp://w ww.djvu-pdf.com/convert.php to convert the .DJVU format to a .PDF file, and voila!, searchable copy.

Toady would have spent the money to buy a copy, and probably still will do, most likely when both parts are released, so he can buy both at once. For now though, he did DL the copy, seeing as how it was staring him in the face.

Did you check it for accuracy, specifically in compound names ( IUPAC ) ?

I checked the log and it seems there were four errors related to symbols that don't exist in the fonts used but I was unable to locate them.

Any corrections are welcomed.

Manually correcting errors is very time consuming, but if I have the time ( unlikely )  I will take a crack at finding them.
I have abby as well, and I found that some compound names were incorrectly identified.

Well, I just tried to print the SIV1.djvu (33.5 Mb, 833 pages) to PDF format using a virtual printer driver. Pdf995 http://www.pdf995.com/

The djvu (33.5 Mb, 833 pages) file printed to PDF was a huge 3.1Gb, 833 page PDF. Definitely FAILED!

Assyl's take is that buying a copy can be a risk for certain individuals, but there's no reason not to slip a few bills in an envelope and mail it off, after downloading it illegitimately. He really does need help...
