convert nitrobenzene to phenol in one step? | ||||||
|
if a person had a nitrobenzene derivitive such as 3,5 dinitro benzoic acid, for example, is there a one step process to convert the nitro groups to hydroxyl groups? or even better to methoxy groups? |

You can do it in one pot. Some time ago I made a trial with a pseudo one pot synth Post 503947 (Bandil: "Synthesis of 4-methyl-3-hydroxy-benzaldehyde", Novel Discourse). Antoncho posted the original writings here: Post 428075 (Antoncho: "Benzaldehydes: from nitro to hydroxy in one step!", Chemistry Discourse) Enjoy, regards Bandil Nuke the whales! |
