let us suppose that an isomerization failed and safrole was reacted with performic acid instead of iso-safrole, what would the product be? or would safrole come through unreacted?

I seem to remember the chief once described that scenario...
I think the conclusion was that you might get max 10% yield of MDP2P, where the main product would be "MDP3P"(or whatever it is called with the ketone-group at the end of the chain).
So isomerize correctly please

if it is MDP3P it doesn't seem to want to form a bisulfite adduct or the MP of the bisulfite adduct is very low
