						Without pursuing the "critical point" considerations, a low key sales job on the benefits of the "Pressurized Pipe, Superheated Solvents" approach. ============= An old friend wrote: "I pull the pfed wid heet crash the crystals out with acetone" and asked something about what Marvin does... "Good for you if you can do that: most of the stuff I see is not amenable to that first pull and crash with acetone. If you are getting to clean any way, you are doing better than most... Way I go is to start with ground up whites or de redded, and do the PP,SS with acetone: that will get rid of a huge %age of the crap right off the bat. At the risk of repeating myself: get a 2" 6"pipe nipple and end caps. Put the powder and dry tone in the pipe, ½ full. Put in some marbles or preferably ball bearings or BB's or small nuts. Put the well sealed pipe in some boiling hot water, after it's hot shake it a few times and let it cool. Takeoff the end caps and drain through a coffee filter. Now do your alcohol pull and you will have ever so much better results.. You can also use this for your naphtha and other NP washes. If you get a SS pipe section, your flexibility of use is enhanced. This avoids the fire hazards, and inhalation hazards. It optimizes the solvency of the solvents, reduces air pollution, and enables superb agitation and exposure of the particulate to the solvent. MNM's way is conc. saturated base dripped on the crystals, then NP solvent extracted, right? For the Way of the Smelly, (BIRCHERS) the PP,SS technique will allow the material to be used without the final AB. The material can be added, (To the reduction process) and based in the process, which has a couple of advantages.. 1.efficiency (saves the losses in the A/B/A process) 2.the material is added as a salt which makes an added hydrogen doner irrelevant. dwarfer dwarfinger...

I think MNM"s way is to add supersaturated Lye to a supersaturated Pseudo solution from which the freebase forms in a cottagecheesey appearance. Real easy. Then wash with h2o and finally a little dash of acetone to rid it of the last of the gaak. This is after soaking in Turps and pulling with alcohol. My question is this. Whatever gaak comes over with the freebase, is it like freebase too? What I mean is is it ALSO only slightly soluble in h2o? Or does it just tag along and able to be removed with water.

IMHO, interpelating from other things, if you degunked the pre-goodies as a salt, then the gunk that is still attached- _{and which works in tandem with the crap you CAN remove as per the above)} should wash off the FB with the tone. ============ I appreciate the timing of this reminder of that technique as it is an easier way out of a self-made problem recently generated arising from the fact that perchlorethylene appears to react with galvanization inside a pressurized pipe: at 100C or at least strips some of it off %^((&^%$&^&_)(&)_ ============ Until just this instant I thought it musta made some ZnCl2: ?? but I betit just stripped some off somehow...
