inflammable == flammable

insecure != secure
inexperienced != experienced

so what exactly is the opposite of flammable(inflammable)? unflammable? or does that somehow == flammable? completely retarded if you ask me.

heh, say flammable over and over again...flammable, flammable, flammable =)

inflammable = able to become enflamed.

I get your point though. It is dumb.

"unflammable" isn't a word. The opposite of "flammable" or "inflammable" is "not flammable".

Mega had to delete the smilies to make room for us to be able to post again.

Just type in the smilie code as usual, then click the "Disable smilies in this post" box at the bottom of the edit window so the smilie shows, and not the red X box where there's no smilie picture.

Sounds like a fair trade to me...

The word "flammable" is technically nonsense. The technically correct way of saying it is "inflammable".

If something is "inflammable", it can be "inflamed". Correct.

If something is "flammable", then it can be "flamed". But you can't "flame" something, therefore the word "flammable" is incorrect.

So, if someone ever says "this substance is flammable", you must murder them for not saying it correctly.

You can "flame" something, but not in the context of igniting something. More when you apply flame to something. Like if you were using a flame thrower, you would "flame" your target. Although you could also be "inflaming" your target if combustion was self sustaining.

The point is, that is almost all other cases, a prefix of "in" means "not".

That was a stupid post; you're rendering yourself flammable...
