Whats everyone planning for this new year?

Just curious to see if anyone has begun preparing for this new years.

I myself have begun preparing, various things, as you can probably tell by my previous posts. Quite noisy my new year shall be.

Im also interested as to what the other Aussies are doing. I myself am about to begin testing with oxy acetylene mixes, in a friends dream of course, also I am going to checkout micks advice on getting 60% H2o2 (for the cleansing of my spa of course).

I also have various items of factory made pyro and some other ideas are brewing.

So, I know its a bit early, but whats everyone got planned.

I am very excited -about having a clean spa and dreaming with a friend.

Im preparing myself to.
Today i extract NH4NO3 from Fertilizer.
Later this month i will buy a few liters of Nitro Methane to make ANNM and liqued explosives, i think i use about 2kg AN for new year (without the weight of the NM)

I also expact to make PETN and with that i will make plastic explosives.
I probably use HMTD but maybe DDNP or MHN.
I try to make my caps as small as possible not like the "pipe bombs" i used to make.

I will make some flash bangs using this mix: KCLO3/Flake AL/Charcoal.

I will make a big batch of thermite (atleast 500gr) to burn trough gas cartridges.

When i made cartboard tubes i will make other pyrotechnical devices like starmines and fountains.
And probably more things where i can't come up now.

I won't buy alot of fireworks just a few (How do you say this in English?)non exploding fireworks (for at night).

I hope to make pictures but they will be made with a normal photo cam.

I am planning to make at least ten AP firecrackers in film-cans; some starmines, some shells (3 inch), a charge of 1 kilo of ANNM detonated at exactly 12-00-00 far from the town, but still audible; some flares; I'll see. In the next days I have to buy some H2O2 and acetone; and some Al powder. I'll post some pics as soon as I'll make some goodies.

I like new year as it's legal to sett of fireworks so if you detonate explosives and other home made stuff nobody really bothers.

4-25gram. AP charges...

alot of beautiful Magnesium starmines.

ALOT of big firecrackers, with nice effects like mixing some stars with the Flashpowder.

make some gas-fireballs

make some cremora-fireballs

a 1kg. ANFO detonation, set off bij a booster of ANNM.

uuuhm... what else...
YES OFFCOURSE!! 3-2kilogram fountains(jummy! i like that ones...).

that's my HOME-MAKE list.
i also have some illigal fireworks from belgium.(belgium is like mexico for the U.S, you can get there alot of fireworks.. mostly very big firecrackers and mortars...)

That's right! I now work for a UK pyro company and on new years eve I'll be at Gatecrasher (UK rave/dance thing) firing for my company!

This will bring tears to the eyes of a few on this forum...

Today we got a JCB and dug 3 huge burn pits and tomorrow (I think) we are going to burn a few tons of damp (read: ruined) category 4 (ie. professional) fireworks! Nooooooo!!!!

I plan to make lots of TCAP firecrackers for that new year. Also some AN- IPN-Al bombsletts(20-100 grams). The good thing here is that they explode many pyrotechnics at christmas and i don't have to wait the new year for the fun http://theforum.virtualave.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif. I will spent the firs part of this holiday with my family and HOPE i get LOST somewhere in the mountais after the new year......

With regards to my job - I'd rather keep it!!! Although I'm allowed to buy and make pyro stuff now (and at the mo I'm working with another guy to develop 5-burst airbomb fragmenting salutes), I still want to do it sensibly and professionally as it's not a job you get the chance to do every day.


Mr.evil - Yep, category 4 is stuff like shells, mega fountains etc (basically anything that the public cannot buy)

And 'SOB' is basically 'crying'


As for Gatecrasher - I wont even get a ticket myself - just a backstage pass! The only way to get a ticket would be to buy one!!...

in belgium they have huge firework stores, hehe they look like malls :-))

but anyway,
i'v been to belgium to get some illigal fireworks.
i have some "strikers", "Nitraten"(similar to the original M-80), chinese crackers(those huge rolls of firecrackers, i have one of 100.000 shots), a 5kg. fontain, some 3' shells(not to many because those things are f*cking expensive!!)
and offcourse the very very populair "lawinepijlen", lawinepijlen are rockets that explode with a enormous BOOM at c.a 30meters height.
if somewone like to see a picture/movie of a Lawinepijl, feel free to mail...

Well there will be lots of AP crackers, about 20 grams each. I'll also buy some big rockets and remove the stars and replace them with ap. I belive the effect will quite good, 40 grams of AP 60 meters up in the sky.

There is one thing I'm thinking of that I will need yoour opinion on. Will an ALAPAN mixture of 200g AN, 50g AP and 20g Al produce enaugh heat to ignite a 50/50 mixture of gasoline and disel. If it does I belive there wil be a nice mushroom-fireball. If I will attemt this I will take som pictures for you.

So what do you think, is it possible??

You know, I've actually gone off HEs - they are less legal, more time consuming to make and not as 'pretty'.

- Hmmm... I've never sucessfully set off a gasoline fireball with HE. I just use a stringbound BP maroon, which is much easier, safer and reliable.

Last year I really went all out with home made stuff and beacuse of 9/11 I think I'll stick to commercial stuff rather than home made stuff beacuse I will be in my own yard and last year I think I over did it a little, well, maybe alot http://theforum.virtualave.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif also I can have the most visible display around and if they claim I'm using fireworks illegally I just tell them i'm using them for agricultural purposes and that is in compliance with the local law, any commercial fireworks can be set off for agricultural purposes only, except most people don't arieate their lawn with fireworks.
