This Detonator i found in a book about Intelligense and Spy stuff
I hope the picture is clear(I have no scanner)
This device is calld a "Pencil detonator" they used it in WW2 the person who used it removed a safety pin and pushed on the ampoule with acid so it broked,
After a wile the acid react with the metal wire and it broked and that caused that the spring pushed the hit pin against the detonator.
There where 5 kind`s of pencil detonator`s with al another colour of safety pin,
Each colour means another time before the wire broked
TIMES:
Red=19 Minute's
Yellow= 6 Hours and 30 Minute's
Blue=14 Hours and 30 Minute's
White=1 Hour and 19 Minute's
Black=10 Minute's
There`s also a detonator in the book with Acetone and plastic that works with the same principe.

I think the acetone/plastic timer would be more practical; the parts that aren't supposed to corrode could then be made from aluminium rather than acid resistant materials.

i have a big book about that kinda stuff...it shows photos of one and how to make one etc...pretty nice book

just today I saw that same book in my school library, I just found it on a table, I think I may know you dark angel, it was something like the big book of spy equipment right?

They was used by a few armies some you had to crush the tube to break the ampule the us also used something simuliar to fire 45 bullets to draw enemy fire or to distract them

The ampul contained copper chloride, the wire is steel and the housing is copper. The solution destroys the wire by electrolytic action between the dissimilar metals and electrolyte. That is not cotton under the screw. It is a lead washer to secure the firing pin retaining wire.
