I know this is a very simple question but iv just started teaching myself chemistry. I was wondering why H2SO4 dehydrates. The H2SO4 and H2O are balanced and I cant see one being more electronegative than the other. I only have books and no teacher, thanks.

What do you mean by balanced?
H2SO4 simply gives off H+ very easily, which makes it more polar while polar water attaches to it better. This attaching force may also depend on coordination of water around sulfate ion, how many H2O can be attached etc..

Ok, I see. What I thinking by balanced was that the H2O and H2SO4 has the 8 electrons in each of the atoms and so I thought it would be content to just stay the way it was until something more electronegative came along and grabbed the H+ off the H2SO4. I have allot to learn, my chemistry background is next to none.
