I've been doing some research on Aluminum powders. I can aquire Aluminum Sulphate quite easily in LARGE quantities(Sp?).

Uses of AS:
Tanning; Metallurgy; Pulp & Paper; Textiles; Water Treatment

While reading the MSDS on Aluminum Sulphate I came across this:
Stability and Reactivity : Stable under normal temperatures and pressures. On contact with moisture is readily hydrolysed to sulphuric acid. Corrosive to metals in the presence of moisture.

This states that AS will decompose into H2S04. If so, what kind of concentrations will it produce? Impurities? (I find it difficult to get H2SO4)

I also understand that AS is directly involved in the production of AL. Is this correct? If so, what is the purpose of it?
