It occured to me that a universal remote controll may be able to scan a car alarm at a fairly decent range,the car alarm/central locking in question could then be (with great ease) opened and locked again, unfortunataly the r/c would have to have a scan feature,these are not common as most universall t.v r/c's are pre-programmed nowadays.Has any one ever had any expierance with this and could they shed some light on it please

1) Not all alarms are IR, imho most new ones are rc.
2) With most modern alarms, the code usually changes after every use.

But there are IR alarms which does not have changing code. If you know something about electronics, it wont be that big problem to make something what scans for the IR signals and then replicate it. You can do without tv remote control.
