Are the lab suppliers generally less suspicious of you getting glass ware then they are of you buying chemicals? Like are they more likely to deal with an individual?

Definitely. Unless the suppliers are only for bulk, they don't mind catering to individuals. Asking for chemicals results (usually) in the usual rigamarrole: "For what? Why? ...". Asking for glassware will result only in: "what quantity? pyrex/polyethylene?"

Can't blame them, actually. They try their best to make sure that those who handle the chemicals know what they're doing. After all, if there's a case of an accident involving chemicals, the dealer is the one which is generally accused of passing on chemicals to the wrong hands... However, if the supplier gets to know you reasonably well, he'll be more trusting- in fact, he might even be able to supply you with "stuff" usually not sold freely.

Eeeebaaaayyy! :)

Goldmine for labstuff, in Europe atleast.

Large glass suppliers will sell to individuals. Ask them if they have any stuff they can't get rid off. You'd be surprised what you can get.

In the US at least, you might want to look at labX (http://www.labx.com/). They're an auction site for people with excess/surplus lab equipment only...

I have never had a chem supplier ask what I wanted chems for( I think they'd rather not know :) ). Do youself a flavor and dont use a CC if you can (Patriot Act). Further more I dont think there's a problem unless : A. your a raghead or B. your trying to buy 100lbs AN or C. your a complete dufus and completely fucks up a buy. The less said the better and look here:
http://www.chinapharm-chemnet.com/request/buy.php3?id=buy&list_num=0
At no point does anybody say what they need the chems for. Look how pros order chems, if there is no order form or you are making an inquiry, use the proper name, use the CAS# and include the chemical formula, thats it,no small talk, business.

If I talk with them at all its to work out payment, shipping and availability.
Ebay is where I get most of my supplies from, althought the auctions are getting pretty cutthroat and alot of people are now using sniper programs. If you have to use the buy it now option I dont see much advantage at all.

To kind of prove a point, does anybody know anybody who has been busted buying chems? If so what was the fuck up? Personally and Ive done alot of research, I have'nt seen much unless your buying from a place like this:

Paying by credit card is not an entirely bad idea:

This is from the DEA's own website. It's part of the guidelines they give to
people who sell chemicals about suspicious ordering:

"Customer who prefers to pay by cashiers check, postal money order, etc.

Customer who desires to pay cash."

Also California has a requirement for its chemicals / labware sellers. Any order
over $100(not just chemicals either) must be reported to the California
Department Of Justice. One California pyrotechnic supplier on the net stated
this clearly and advises all customers to keep their orders under $100.

Just thought I'd pass this information along.

The island group sells RDX, HMX, TNT, sodium azide. They most likely won't sell anything to individuals. As far as the California law goes, just make 10 $99 orders, problem solved.

Edit: Holy shit people, stop yer grinnin' and drop yer linen', I just found the cheapest freakin' lab supplier. I do not know if it has been mentioned before, but http://www.thesciencefair.com . 1000 mL separatory funnel for $27.95, 1 L Erlenmeyer for $7.98, cheap burner for around $13. Okay so http://www.sciplus.com is also good, but this is the best deal I have ever seen for a separatory funnel. I am buying one. They also have some good really non-jointed distillation gear, coat it with teflon or aluminum and you've got yourself a nitric still. And they cater to individuals. Good shit eh? Also check this out, search froogle for nitric acid, or I will save you the trouble: http://www.google.com/froogle?q=nitric+acid . It's Only $180!
