"Phasing out the human race by voluntarily ceasing to breed will allow Earth's biosphere to return to good health. Crowded conditions and resource shortages will improve as we become less dense."

You offering yourself up as a sacrifice for mankind?

How sweet! :p

I think extinction is a bit extreme, but periods of not breeding (that's not to say no fucking, which would go on most definitely) would do the earth good, it could reduce the earth's population to a little under a billion and everything would be peachy. To start with lets get rid of the DEA...

Sounds chillingly like that nut group in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six that plotted to wipe out the human race with a modified ebola virus. They fail to take into account the simple fact that humans ARE A PART OF NATURE, instead taking the view of humans somehow being "above" nature. Throughout the planet's history the earth has changed constantly, going through ice ages, nuclear winters, and the climate of the earth has been anything but constant. The only difference between those times and now is that this is the first time that these changes have been brought about by an intelligent species. This group demonstrates considerable hypocrisy - they say the extinction of a single species is such a terrible crime, yet advocate the extinction of humanity. Of course, to them it's perfectly alright for one species to drive another into extinction, so long as it's not humans doing it. While I don't agree with the way that global capitalists are pillaging the world in unsustainable ways, and support many of the views of the environmentalist movement, this group's view of environmentalism for it's own sake is quite disturbing. These people place non-sentient bacteria and plants above people. What is happening now is a result of a natural process, called EVOLUTION. Through evolution we have become the most powerful species on the planet, and through our actions we are altering the environment. Those species not suited to the new environment go extinct. Those that benefit from our actions thrive. While much is made of the fact that we have driven species into extinction, little mention is made of the fact that as a result of natural selection new species are beginning to emerge. The most commonly quoted example that of the white peppered moth, whose habitat is trees covered with white lichens etc. In places, industrial pollution has caused the lichen to die, rendering the white peppered moth quite visible to predators. However, as a result of the forces of natural selection, moths in these regions have evolved into a sub-species, the black peppered moth. Were it not for our actions, this species would never have existed. Our eventual fate, also, will be a product of the natural process of evolution. While we are a powerful species, natural selection predicts that a species able to control that power will be more likely to survive (i.e. not wipe itself out), than one that cannot. The Voluntary Human Extinction Movement can take solace in the fact that their end will also come about as the result of the natural cause of evolution, for by not reproducing, they will wipe themselves out, and in doing so they will improve the gene pool by reducing the amount of deluded wackos in the human race.

Well our race is most definitely on the verge of a pandemic. A great disease that will wipe out massive amounts of our population. It's just a part of life. A way of the earth balancing itself out. Some of the main things that can through our planets ecosystem out of whack are Humans and meteors. I don't think there is anyway for our planet to compensate for meteors. Humans on the other hand can be dealt with.

Well in large parts of Africa, HIV is well on the way to doing that.

Not faster than they breed.

The third world has taken the "cockroach" approach to children. Push out as many as you can, as fast as you can, and then it doesn't matter how many die or how fast, because there's more coming in than going out.

'Course, this is the whole reason they're in the shithole status they are now.
