I was watching a documentary on Che . It said that a aborted attempt on de-facing guevarra, which involved placing thallium salts in his shoes to make ALL his hair fall out. My question is are the effects from this permanant and/or how long would it take the metal in question to take effect.

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Castro? Because I've never heard that about Che, they just killed him flat out and skipped the beard thing...

It would be neat to study more up on the effcts of thallium... as that could lead to some interesting uses.. mostly for shits and giggles.

Also thallium is realy poisonious IIRC. I'm not fresh on the LD50 though.

MY bad it was castro.... so thallium is highly poisonus,im looking for some under-handed non lethal revenge ideas and i liked this one because it would be possible to slip some under the fiber lining of a chair,where the inividual would spend most of the day.But not to endanger life.

1g of thallium is deadly, but by the time that dose has been reached the victim will already suffer from severe effects.

The antidote is "Berliner Blau", Iron(III)hexacyanoferrate(II).
