aeroponics or aero-hydroponics

I stumbled on this the other day when looking for soil alternatives does anyone have any experience with hydroponics especially aeroponics or aero-hydroponics. From my best guess the plants roots are misted with a mineral rich solution and as it passes through the air it collects oxygen and helps the plant metabolize the solution. The problem i'm having is how to make one or and what nutrients i can use for the water solution any help is appreciated.
