The entire contents of the explosives folder of the FTP is now available as a single rar file. Over 1.6 GB of data (compressed) and about 230 different files altogether. This includes books, journals, and videos. There are some text files, some websites, but no anarchist crapbook stuff. I would list all the good, but that can wait for another day.

From the nfo:
Over the last few years an increasing wealth of technical information has found its way to the Internet. Information about explosives, though, is quite rare. The industrious members of www.roguesci.org have scoured the web, and in most cases fired up their scanners, to compile the single greatest collection of books, journals, and videos relating to explosives. Nowhere else can you find such a vast collection of scientific information in a single place, and no one else but www.roguesci.org would give it all away for free.

What you will not find in this release is the usual worthless crap like anarchist or terrorist manuals. All of these files are professionally published books and journal articles. Various titles include The Encyclopedia of Explosives and Related Items vol 1-10, Urbanski’s Chemistry and Technology of Explosives vol 1-4, Davis’s Chemistry of Powder and Explosives, Fordham’s High Explosives and Propellants, and over 230 other titles.

Wow excellent.

Thank you very much for putting it all together in a file and making it available. This is greatly appreciated.

Why was it placed inside another rar file? It saved a whopping 2kb.. Not much point considering the time it takes most users to extract a 1.6GiB file!

Took me just over 2 hours to download the file FYI.

Hello all,

Ok, I give up! What's the trick? I have downloaded the Rogue Science Explosives Book Collection 1.0.rar three times now. Taking anywhere from 24 to 72 hours, but each time the rar will NOT open! All I get each time is, a Unexpected end of archive message. How do I get a good down load? I am on a very good DSL line and am using Bit Torrent 3.3 which has always worked just fine for me. Any suggestions would really be much apprecated!

Thanks, the Alchemist!

Are you leaving the download to run until it is finished? Or are you pausing/resuming the download at all? If your pausing/resuming the download that's one of the main reasons I sometimes get a fucked up file from Bit Torrent.

Alchemist
August 22nd, 2004, 01:34 PM
Hello again,

No I just let it run to the end. It runs all the way through with no errors untill I try to open it. I am trying again now for the fourth time. I'll get a good one eventually.

Thanks.....

"Each time the RAR will not open"? When downloading RAR archives, I find that the problem causing this is usually in the last 10 or less bytes of the file. This can be easily fixed using the "repair archive" feature of WinRAR 3.3, which is available by starting WinRAR from its executable file (as distinct from clicking in a WinRAR archive) and then selecting the file to be repaired, and selecting "repair archive". This process would take several minutes for a 1.6 Gb archive, during which time WinRAR may appear to be halted. WinRAR can also repair ZIP archives.

Bugger.

The archive was re-rared so that the nfo file would not get lost amongst all the 220 other files.

I have here a 1.66 gb file sitting on my desktop. I double click it, and Xace flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second, and I get a folder that only contains the .nfo file, nothing else. Is there something else that I have to do, or am I stuck with a worthless file?

Edit: Note...Xace does not work, but WinRar works fine. Nevermind this.

Excellent!!!!! Even more, the speed we are reaching is incredible!!!

Like hell it is! Only 17 Mb in 5 hours, even with BitTornado, which is supposed to be the best BitTorrent client. At this rate, it will take 500 hours! Or did you cheat somehow?

Bugger.

Cemist
August 27th, 2004, 03:18 PM
I have no problems with the speed. At the moment i have between 15 to 30 kB downstream which will be enough to bring this excellent download to an end in about 20 hours :)

In my opinion Azureus is the most comfortable Torrent client.

P.S. I think it would have been better to take the Fedoroff books out of this package since they are available seperately and for everybody who has already downloaded that file it is ~600 MB of "wasted" bandwidth.

kkimic
August 27th, 2004, 08:06 PM
As Cemist says, I think Azureus is the best Torrent client by now too.

I download the whole 1.66 GB file thanks to 25 Kb/sec downstream and thanks to the inconditional seeds. Try to use Azureus client.

I'm currently downloading the file, hopefully it's ok after someone turned off the computer while I had it running at night.

I agree with going with Azerous, I tried Bittorrent (couldn't they have imagination and call the program something different?) and found azureus averages 20kb/s, while bittorrent averages 2 or 3.

Thank you Mega for making this available!

WOW! Thanks.
Thankyou for providing this "sacred" knowledge for FREE!

Is it possible to create torrents for the complete ftp?
If yes (which I think is) then can you please make torrents for these and split them while organizing the materials into explosives, weapons, pyrotechnics, improvised weapons etc.

This will help to spread this knowledge to many (which is the goal of this site) and even the "unprivileged" (those who dont have access to private ftp) at good speeds while relieving some load from the ftp server.

And thanks again for the file!

I've tried thrice installing even redownloading and installing Azureus. But everytime I double click its icon nothing ever opens.
Does anyone has the same problem?

I'm right now using BitComet for downloading this file and the speeds are dead slow always less then 1kbps. At this speed it would take ages for downloading this file.
And I'm downloading from just one peer, maximum to maximum 2 peers. Maybe thats why the speeds are slow. Till now I have commpleted just 1.1% of download while its downloading from days.

Will the Gods allow someone to Upload the torrent to SuprNova at http://www.suprnova.org/ this would help to increase the speeds of downloads and spreading the knowledge to many.
Maybe by providing a link in the torrent or file towards the forum.

Well, what I feel are the most user friendly bittorrent clients are Azureus and ABC, another bittorrent client. If Azureus does not work for you, try ABC.

I am currently downloading the torrent from Bitcomet 0.55 with a download of up to 5kbps and upload of 11kbs, also up to 6% already downloaded so far. I hope it will work when its completed and i will let you's all know if it does.

I am using Azureus and though I have completed 60% over the last month or so, I have not experienced speeds of more than 1-2 kbps over last 10-15 days. I am using a cable connection and wonder what could be wrong. Sometimes the download stops to a nought and it is really frustrating having to keep your system on throughout the day hoping the speed will improve any moment. But that has not happened since the last many days. I think I have to keep trying and hope things will improve.

akinrog
October 1st, 2004, 12:47 PM
Since you are using cable, you have to configure your cable modem to allow incoming connections to your computer. Cable and DSL modems are preconfigured to certain ports (generally 21, 80, 110, 25, etc.) and all other ports are blocked by default. Assume that your client uses port 10023, then you should open your (cable/dsl) modem's port 10023. Don't ask me how since almost every modem has their unique configuration utility. HTH.

MMIV
October 1st, 2004, 11:19 PM
You should check that your download priority setting is on "highest" and check your firewall settings, also close any other programs that you are not using. This should improve download speed a bit.

passhahkhan
October 10th, 2004, 02:22 AM
Now this thing has really started to irritate me.

Everytime my download speed is less than 1kbps. And I connect to only 1 or maximum 2 peers usually 0 (zero).
I'm using a 64kbps connection and other torrents and files download at around 6-8kbps, average 7kbps.

Respected NBK2000 and Mega, is it allowed if I upload this torrent on http://www.suprnova.org/ , I asked because I don't want myself to be banned.

October 12th, 2004, 12:33 PM
Even I uploaded it at suprnova, torrentreactor and lokitorrent and would upload on some more sites.

I think its because of my attempts, as soon after uploading when I searched for it it came under search results which it didn't at first.
While for lokitorrent I'm sure its me (because of the uploader's name)

Torrentreactor has not yet accepted or is moderating the torrent or something else.
I'll wait some time then upload it again on torrentreactor.

Who's the goose...?

The link to Roguesci on suprnova is 404.

Whoever put: "http://www.roguesci.org/theforum/index" meant: http://www.roguesci.org/theforum/index.php

Although why just "roguesci.org" wouldn't have done, I don't know.

nbk2000
October 12th, 2004, 02:15 PM
The link should point to:

http://www.roguesci.org/ftp.html

so people downloading the torrent will realize that there's more to be had via FTP, which leads to more being uploaded, thus making more available for downloading via Torrent.

A happy circle. :)

The torrent unfortunately appears to be down. Along with the chemistry manual.

Does anyone know where I could find:

Mujahideen Explosives Handbook.pdf

The anarchist aresenal by David Harber.pdf

the advanced anarchist arsenal by David Barber - Jelly.pdf

I understand that they are on the FTP but I don't have the expertise to get a neccessary rating. I am willing to contribute once I have a paypal account attached to my TD bank account (i'm in canada).
