The following FTP site has much scientific material of interest to Roguescientists, among many other things:

It is believed to be run by someone in Poland of German ancestry, many files being in German. However, it is BLOODY SLOW, average transfer rate about 1.2 Kb/sec per connection, allows only 3 connections per IP with a timeout of a few minutes between connections, and is often off-line (although it is usually on between about 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. GMT). Sometimes, for some strange reason, it can be accessed only either through a Polish proxy server or by a dialup connection. Free to all comers; it also accepts pertinent uploads.
Some material not available anywhere else, mostly on chemical engineering, can be accessed indirectly through the following chemistry/chemical engineering forum, located in Spain and with many Latin American members, and mostly using Spanish, of which I happen to have some knowledge:
