This is my first own thread, so I hope i dont get banned now. :(
I have searched on the forum after "Making AN" and couldnt find anything so I ask in a new thread insted.

For a while ago I mixed Ca(NO 3 ) 2 + NH3.
This should become AN.
Anyway, I dissolved the calcium nitrate in the NH3 and stirred for a while.
After about 15 minutes I filtered it. The liquid I had left I poured it into a saucepan and boiled away the NH3.
When no NH3 was left I had powder left which should be AN.
The thing is that the powder doesnt dissolvs in water that easy it should do and when the powder finally has dissolwed the water doesn´t get cold.
I find this very strange and wonder what I have make wrong?
Can you make AN with this method att all?

Essentially adding stoichiometric ammonium sulphate should work, and filtering out the CaSO4. You will need a lot of water and filtering will be a right pain. Ammonium compounds tend to make calcium compounds more soluable, so this may still be contaminated with calcium nitrate. For most people working harder on finding a source of AN will pay out many times what trying to make AN will cost you in effort.

If you dont get banned for making your first real post a new topic on a subject that allready exists, good luck and let us know how well it works.
