Furthermore I like:
Sonata Arctica

And others... but now I also like some more relaxed music, I think it comes when you get a little older, I appreciated the latest album of '3 doors down', away from the sun very, very much.
Do you also notice that the music you like will soften if you get older??

(Also, YES- "The Gates of Delirium" is war put to music. A good dowload if you can find it on a P2P. 22 minutes of orchestrated chaotic bliss!).

[EDIT: Johnny Cash! The Man In Black... You're not OLD, Trever, just ahead of your time! :D (how could I leave Johnny out?) .oO I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die...Oo.

At least two people mentioned Rammstein, better than none I suppose...

We used to have a truckload of Rammstein fans here at the forum, but most of them seem to have drifted away over the past 2 years or so.

I listen to everything except rap and country, but my favourite genres are Metal and Classical.

All Time favourite song - "Feuer Frei" by Rammstein

Favourite one right now - "We Will Rise" by Arch Enemy (everyone's always amazed to find out that their lead singer is female... lol)

And a few other bands that I don't think have been mentioned yet (forgive me if they have, I didn't look too closely)

Megaherz

Oomph!
Rob Zombie & White Zombie

Well someone started a new thread, seems they forgot to use the fucking search engine here on the site, and their taste of music was, well sub par (Eminem, Tupac).
I can't stand that rap crap bull shit which is just pollution to my ears, hearing their ebonic slang. I prefer Metal, Rock anything with a good ballad, some Punk/Alternative.

I have also found some band I wish to check out, from a member here in the Netherlands, since some of the bands listed in my list come from there and they happen to be some of my favorites and that type of music is fairly hard to find here.

Well after reading this post I see that some good bands have been left out of this post! So I thought I'd add some of my favorites to this list they are in no order, as they all fucking kick ass, and I have left out many good band since I decided to keep this list short and simple.

HIM- (Form of love metal, heavy meaningful ballads about love and death), -Sweet 666, Right here in your arms, Salt on the wounds, Wings of a butterfly/The Funeral Of Hearts
Bob Seger- (One of the Best Rockers) -Here I am on the road again, Night Moves
Turbo Negro -Partie Animals/All my friends are dead
Danko Jones -She makes me forget my name/
Action Action -Head Trip/Drug Like/lets never go to sleep
30 Seconds to Mars -I'll Attack/A Modern Myth/The Fantasy
April Wine -I don't want to lose your love/Sign Of The Gypsy Queen
Alice Cooper -Poison/Skeletons In The Closet
Bob Marley -Get up Stand up/I Can See Clearly Now/ No woman no Cry
Bruce Sprinsteen -Growing up
Eagles -Hotel California
Foreigner -I just died in your arms tonight, Double Vision
Judis Priest -Living After Midnight/Turbo Lover/Deal with the devil
Led Zepplin -
Neil Young -Down By the River/Keep on rocking in the free world
Rick Springfield -Jessies Girl
Rolling Stones-Paint it black/drift away (Beetles)
Thin Lizzy-Whiskey in the Jar/ Dancing in the moonlight /Jail Break/The Boys are Back in Town
Tom Petty- Last dance with Mary Jane/Learning to Fly/Wont back down
Van Halen-Right now/Jump
Warrant -Bitter Pill/Down Boys/Cherry Pie
Eddie Money -Take me Home tonight
Don Mclean -Bye Bye Miss American Pie
Don Healy -Boys of Summer
Boston -More than a Feeling/Blinded by the light
Manfred Mann -Blinded By the Light
Wolfmother -Joker & the Theif/Woman

Hmm, way to lazy to list all my bands. But, to be honest, I like everything that isn't gangsta rap (however, I don't like plenty of individual songs or bands within a genre). But music wise, I'm pretty open to anything that just sounds good.

Didn't see meatloaf mentioned, Bat out of Hell is awesome.

I think three of my favourite songs are:
Re-Align by Stromkern (really awesome)
Beethoven's 9th, specifically the opera final of Ode To Joy (really really awesome)
Date of Expiration by Funkervogt (completely awesome to the point of orgasm... well not quite, but it's a damn good song)

My favorite genres of music? Usually house and heavy trance. Sometimes techno, a bit of metal (Metallica) and rock.

I'm trying to get my hands on my friends new "Sessions three"(AUS) (http://www.ministryofsound.com.au/music_single_coloumn.cfm?page_id=33440494114311003&se_id=116) but because he brought a good new CD last time (and let us copy it) he wants $10 to let me copy this one :(.

I also want hard NRG 8 (http://www.ministryofsound.com.au/music_single_coloumn.cfm?page_id=74062499114311003&se_id=116), I've never herd the songs on them but they would probably be good trance songs, since I have and listen to songs from the older albums.

If anybody has these CD's and wants to trade, for some older albums, PM me.

I have a funny request for this site, but since this post is about music I thought It might kind of in some way be alright.

I have for about 2 months been searching the internet, P2P networks for a song, that I can not find. I have even tried ordering the CD from HMV, and other record stores but no luck. So I have a request to ask of any member who has the cd Turbo Negro "Party Animals"
I would kill for the song "City of Satin" By Turbo Negro. If any one has this song please upload this to Rapid Share and PM me the link or post it here. I have the rest of the CD with the exception of that one song I can't find anywhere.

Well I wish that was the case, but seem like I had a typo here last night. 1 too many beers last I swear! :D

Any how, I got the song, so I'm happy ;)

I better limit my beer consumption through out the day today, I tend to get sloppy when I'm drinking. But hell I have to go back to the bush for work in a week and a half, so I'm going to enjoy the rest of my time off as best as I can!

August 19th, 2006, 08:25 PM
In general, I tend to prefer the songs of late 19th/early 20th century composers. Hugo Wolf's magnificent "Der Feuerreiter" (The Fire Rider); Schubert's "Erlkoenig" (The Erl King), Paul Hindemith's "Cardillac", Karl Amadeus Hartmann's "Gesangszene Sodom and Gomorrah"; Richard Strauss', "Elektra"; Bela Bartok's "Keksakallu Herceg Vara", Karl Orff's "Trionfo di Afrodite". Of course, I couldn't leave out Othmar Schoeck's chilling "Buried Alive"; the symphonies of Mahler and Bruckner. I also love Wagner (everything) and late Verdi (Otello, Don Carlos). Favorite singer of all time: Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to rip Mp3s of all this stuff to ftp. If you like your music dark and driven, I can assure you these tracks won't let you down!

anonymous411
August 20th, 2006, 04:22 AM
Will do! I'm "out of town", but will get back to my CD collection in a couple of weeks. This stuff is so hard to find, it'll be a delight to introduce it to people.

Oh yeah, I really ought to rip all four hours of the 'sine qua non' of piano literature, Sorabji's "Opus Clavicembalisticum". As a reviewer once said, its fugues, overstated to an impossible extent, are fantastically complex and its harmonies, in Sorabji's words, "bite like nitric acid." hahahaha...that's right, nitric acid!! Hell yeah, you know it's got to be good... ;)

Oh, and the dedication couldn't be more perfect for this place, too:

"to the everlasting glory of those few men blessed and sanctified in the curses and execrations of those many whose praise is eternal damnation."

Cheers!

My musical tastes definately branch too much to truly classify my likings, but a good idea would be modern metal/rock.

A selection of bands I like:

Rage Against the Machine
The Presidents of the United States
Linkin Park
Rob Zombie
Metallica
Hammerfall
Helloween
Disturbed
Nirvana
Billy Talent
Godsmack
Audioslave
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Enya
Otis Redding
Jars of Clay
Smalltown Poets
many more...

Some favorite songs:
1812 Overture, Tchaikovsky
Dragula, Rob Zombie
Believe, Disturbed
Bulls On Parade, Rage Against the Machine
I Want Out, Helloween
Boadicea, Enya

That is but a small sample, but I like all kinds, excluding almost all rap (a few songs are acceptable to me, it's basically all trash in my opinion though) and almost all country. One thing I always like though would be any epic sounding orchestral pieces, like the theme from The Lord of the Rings, etc...

Well. I like allmost any sort of music, as long as it hasn't got some coloured guy in it whot yells "Yo yo yo!!!" twenty times a minute (I think you could classify that as R&B).

My most favorite music style is good old Dutch hardcore. A style with a lot of bass, and that's what most people here like, I think;)

Also, it's very easy to make your own tracks in this style, it's just a matter of mixing some fancy old song with a high pitched, strong bass.

For instance, listen to: "the middle children" by "Ophidian". It's basically some phrase from fight-club with a lot of bass around it.

Here's my favorite-artist list:

Rammstein
Dimmu Borgir (check out "Puritania")
Angerfist (check out "Take u back")
Ophidian
Metallica
RATM
Lou Reed
The Gorillaz
Neophyte
Rolling Stones
Guano apes
Linkin Park (their old tracks)
and many more.....

Then you might like Cactus or Beck Bogert and Appice.

Carmine Appice was the best live I'd ever seen. Old fuck, now...
