Looks like Loompanics are closing down for good.
I only ever bought 2 books, PMJB 1 & 2 from them but its still sad to see.
Loompanics and Paladin are good starting points for the concerned citizen so its a bit of a shame.
All the books are now 50% off so if theres anything you want now might be the time. Im sure all the good books will be availible on ebay and Amazon ect for a long time to come anyway.

This definitely emphasizes the importance of getting these books scanned and placed on ftps and p2p networks before they become unavailable or too expensive to get ahold of. This has been a steady trend, first taking the better books out of print, and then finally going out of business all together.

Now there down to 75% off all titles (Minimum order - 5 books). The pickings are getting a little slim.

I'm think Paladin press bought out loompanics just recently.

Checkout thier website. www.paladin-press.com

Paladin Press bought the rights to 40 or so from Loompanics. Their books also went to ~10 other online dealers, on their links page. Unfortunately, I noticed their site is dead now, and I am upset I never got around to saving all of their links. :(

You could look up their now-defunct site on http://www.archive.org , which archives all websites and earlier versions of web-pages since 1995.

I actually feel a little guilty: God knows I put in enough time standing around alternative bookstores reading up their entire catalog without paying a dime. Loompanics really opened up a whole new world to me at the age of 16...RIP.

I remember the first Loompanics book I bought, I remember seeing it in the store (a hippy dippy book store to tell the truth) and I thought "How can they publish a book like this? Cool!" and then when I saw the list to titles in the back, I was hooked! I never had enough money to buy all the books I wanted (almost everyone in the catalogue) but I did love getting the catalogue and drooling over it. Beat the crap out of Paladin.

I would say I miss them, but as a teenager when I first started looking in these catalogs I had one from Paladin Press, Delta Press, but Loompanics never sent me one after I ordered it. I think the damn thing even cost me a few $$, but I never got it. It was not until years later (after I realized these books were useless to me) that I finally saw what they had for sale.

$4 or $5 I think.

To bad, I liked reading the artices they had in the catalogue, and even if, as you say, the books weren't that useful they were fun, sort of porn for a budding "evil" scientist. :)

The site must have went back online in the last few days, because it is now up. :)
