I brought 5 liters of 10-20% hydrogen peroxide from a pool store some time ago. I’m going to use it to make sulfuric acid by bubbling SO2 through but I’m worried about the number of impurities which it would contain.

Can activated carbon be used to purify hydrogen peroxide or would the H2O2 also absorb into the carbon? Would there be any impurities left which would react with my acid if it works?

Thanks for any help.

Worse than you expect activated carbon decompose H2O2 so if you try that you may need that RS identification plates Mega proposed. Just kidding peroxyde of that concentration probably wont kill you, but splashes are possible.

God dam, everything decomposes H2O2. I tried to mix them and like u said it decomposed.
Does anybody know what impurities are in pool quality chlorine? I found some information using google but nothing very good.
