A genuine Nazi tank, complete with shells, found in good condition at the bottom of a lake, having been buried under 3 meters of mud for more than half a century.

I wonder if they ever heard of the "Finders Keepers" rule in Estonia... ;)

How did it get there though? Did some Nazis just decide to see if it would make a good boat?

A genuine Nazi tank

A Russian Tank, used by the Nazis, not a Tiger, but makes a good story.

Some fuckers have all the luck.

All I ever found in a lake was a dead fish!

If it was used by the Nazis, has an Iron Cross on it, then it's a Nazi tank, regardless of who made it.

As to why it was in the lake, and how it was found, read the linked articles in the original URL provided.

Ok, but it still would have been nice to have found a near pristine Tiger tank, those things are rarer than chicken titties!

I did read it, I was just lamenting my poor luck at never having knowing anyone who's seen a tank beening driven into a lake.

Well I can't read Ceczh (or spell it) but I did catch the word Stug in the info at the top of the article, and I thought looking at the picture "That looks like a tank destroyer", so a few seconds googling came up with this link, enjoy (if you haven't googled the Stug yourself.)

The story of how it was found is truly remarkable.

Would you remember exactly where you were when you were a little boy 65 years ago and saw nothing more than a few air bubbles rising up from a lake somewhere?

And how could you justify the expense of undertaking an expedition to find something like that based on that information alone?

While doing some searching on Nazi tanks, I found this site with a LEGO Tiger Tank:

http://homepage1.nifty.com/sasapon/lego_tiger_late.html

A japanese site with a bunch of lego tanks, both real and anime:

http://www2p.biglobe.ne.jp/~s-hf/toy/lego/baka00.htm

Even better, the spider tank from the final battle scene of Ghost in the Shell:

Put these here because there's no other threads relevant to post them in.

I doubt the tank has been restored to its full "glory", but it has been put to a small museum.
The map of the district where it is located: http://www.illukavv.ee/article.php?sid=59 Click the number "7" on that map and you get a list of what is in that small weapons museum. You must call the to the telephone number(add country code 372) given on that page and make an appointment with Igor, when will he let you in.
To get a broader view, where it is located, go to http://www.regio.ee/?setlang=eng and type "Illuka vald" to the search box.
