I agree with you there. I know about 3-5 muslims from Iran and they are extremley nice undangerous people.

Actually I don't think that that guy is an asshole. When compareds to the way many people treat their wives , not just Muslims(but especially Muslims) the rules put down are humane. The rules were no bruises, not in public and no broken bones, he also said that your wife is not your property. He is a moderate not an extremist by any stretch of the imagination. If you have ever seen the way many Muslim women are treated in public you will realize this. I do not know from experience how Muslims women are treated around the world, but in America sometimes it seems that men become Muslims just to abuse women, especially black men.

I personally thinking that hitting a woman is atrocious, however these rules when applied to the discipline of children are fine. I would imagine that many Muslims and many of the extreme fundamentalist Christians would say that these rules are ridiculous because wives ARE property.

I wasn't defending violence against women, believe me I find it unacceptable too. My point is that this guy is not an extremist nor even particularly worthy of criticism, in my opinion it is a step up and in the right direction from the way many people think. It is not good but it is better.

If he was the "shame of the muslims", then why was he being interviewed on live television as an expert? You have to raise a few questions as to why most muslim nations are radical. Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria, Palestine all have heavy anti-west views. Its sadenning. I can't answer as to why this is, but one must remember that the Persians and the other moderate Muslim empires were vilolently taken over by the Wahhabites (followers of the Wahhabism brand of Islam) also some of the groups hate each other, such as the Sunnis and the Shiites.
