What’s your favourite commercial/s?

Mine ATM is this 'http://content.yieldmanager.edgesuite.net/atoms/a6/bb/a6bb40415e1f3c323fae04793bc02696.gif'

What makes it even funnier is they mis-spelt Saddam :p

I also like that John West commercial on TV when some guy beats up a bear to get his fish because John West only serves ‘the best’.

Best for last. That Got Milk commercial (it’s an old one) when the kids won't drink their milk, they tell their mum Mr. Johnson (we will call him) never drank milk and his fine. They look over to Mr. Johnson he waves and goes to pick up the wheelbarrow when his arms snap off and is left with these steaming hollow stubs. Immediately the kids grab as much milk as they can and gulp it down like they haven’t drank in a few days. :D

The Heineken beer commercial with Mars landing...and the leading moto "If there is life there the Dutch will find it" and rover metamorphosis to a mini-bar is mine favourite in this year.

Ooh, I am truly insulated from the evils of advertising. I have not watched TV in more than a year, closer to 1.5 now. I download everything from the net, commercial free. Even before that I recorded everything on my three VCR's and always skipped commercials. I even closed my eyes sometimes while fast forwarding so as not to see the commercial. I even change the channel on my radio with the presets when a commercial comes on, and in the unlikely situation that all six are spewing commercials, off it goes.

I highly advise this viewing theory. I watch TV for the shows, not to be manipulated into wanting or buying something. Commercials and advertising are evil, and huge wastes of time (not that watching TV is all that constructive to begin with).

Well, thanks to TiVO and the like, the advertisers are embedding their advertising in the shows as well.

Things like the characters are watching TV, and a commercial comes on the TV in the TV show!

Product placement is well known.

Subliminal embeds are also common, though never admitted to.

Sorry, haven't had a TV in 10 years. I watch C-SPAN 1, 2, and 3 on the internet, Lewis Black clips on YouTube, and that's about the long and short of it... LOL

Interestingly enough, there are several online commercial archives. Someone once said if you want to understand the psychology of the American public, watching the five most popular TV shows will tell you everything you need to know. I suppose the same could be said of commercials too...

*laugh* I'm about 20 and I've barely ever watched TV in my whole life, so forgive me if everyone else knew this, but in Aus, the commercial TV channels are now showing their commercials at the SAME TIME so you no matter where you go, you will get caught with commercials.

They might start doing this on radio as well (which would suck, but I don't listen to that either).

I just hate the idea of working for 8-10 hours a day, and coming home and watching TV till you go to bed *shudder*. Hell, I don't even work and I hate the idea.

The reason I stopped listening to commercial radio was for the very reason of they almost always had their commericals on at the same time!

Turns out there's only a couple of radio networks in the US, so it'd be easy enough for them to come to agreement to do the commercial synchronization, overt or not.

It's really going to suck when they eventually get around to banning the internet as we now know it, and turn it into yet another AOLTIMEWARNERDISNEY outlet for commerical crap.
