Thanks for posting this, I was going to but I hate making new threads.

Imagine what damage to a city's economy one could do leaving broken VCRs under benches in subway stations and malls!

This is the biggest overreaction I have seen in a long time, especially considering the items in question were in their places for weeks before anyone got alarmed.

I have my doubts that terrorists would make bombs with LED cartoon characters on them...

I was following this yesterday. The tow guys arrested should walk, the judge has already said that it isn't a hoax unless the devices were left "intending to cause fear or alarm" and since they are clearly a light up advert, as long as the judge stays his line, they will be fine.

The city are rabid, though. The AG and mayor want them hung under terrorist offence laws! All to save face, since they made themselves look like idiots. And that can't be allowed!

It's interesting to know that if you want to blow up a whole city, you can simply get a permit, then hang dozens of bombs up, then wipe out Boston, and that's fine, because you got permission to put the signs up first.

I wonder if they normally treat the fly posters there this harshly?

What I thought was cool about the 'terrorists' was how, at the press conference, they'd only answer questions related to 70's hair-cuts. :D

They gave this situation all the dignity it deserved.

What I really found hilarious was the pictures of the goverment suits, all frowning and serious.

I particularly enjoyed the numerous mainstream media images of these infernal devices being held by frowning, serious suits... With the upraised middle finger blurred, in case it should offend. Priceless!

If anything, this is exactly the type of publicity they were looking for. Nationwide mass media advertising is expensive and doesn't really get peoples attention. This, on the other hand, will probably cost TB very little and reach out to a demographic that would not normally associate with the programming lineup.

My guess is Adult Swim will grow in popularity until they branch off into there own TV station. They already have some of the most innovative and awesome cartoons and shows out there right now. They are solely responsible for the comeback of "Futurama". And they cater to my lust for violence and downright rudeness.

Some of my favorite clips....

The Venture Bros (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea7nhTjXV98), Metalocalypse (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyR2uF-XDy8), Korgoth of Barbaria (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omDTPbQLnmY)

I hear there are already t-shirts for the movie out about the incident, and the devices are selling on ebay for > $1000 a pop. I too thought their refusal to discuss anything other than hair was humorous and ballsy. I hope I have the stones to be that flip if it came to it :)

I don't get the cartoon network sadly, but I do catch Aqua Teen Hunger Force every now and again.

What got me was that one 'bomb technician' was quoted as saying that the device wasn't explosive, but contained all of the neccessary electronics for an improvised explosive device. Frikkin' moron. Those things were around when I was a wee lil' lad.
