If any Aussie members are interested in the political scene, then this will be the place to post news and developments.
The NSW state election is less than 8 weeks away and the political mud throwing has already begun.
In the blue corner we have the challenger.

In the red corner we have the replacement premier.

If anybody finds a site taking the piss out of him, POST IT!
Another interesting piece of news is this:

One day into the 2007 federal election campaign and we get that.
Anyhow, the NSW election is going to get nasty, sit back and enjoy the show!

I saw it on the "news" tonight. Looks like even the media is in on the promotion. They started the segment off with all the different cards it would take the place off in a jumbled messy pile (as if anyone would have all those cards. If you did, you would be a retarded, wheelchair bound, pregnant, veitnam vet who gets social security but can afford medicare and goes to school (primary, secondary and tertiary)) then they showed the new card all by itself, all nice and shiny with a smart card gold square in it.

Ofcourse, the smart card is to protect against identity fraud.....as will be the biometrics contained there....as well as the RFID....+satellite tracking and you have the new national ID.

Seems there are some politicians that are objecting to it because it could potentially become a new nat. ID card, but the opposition is doing an absolutely pathetic job in opposing it.

*laughs bitterly* This brings to mind a story that NBK (IIRC) posted that had to do with a man falsly accused of a crime and the froze all his accounts (linked to his Nat. ID card) and he couldn't buy food for his family (no cash anymore, its illegal) and due to food rationing he couldn't scrounge it from friends and family. The person he would need to talk to about getting his name cleared was on holiday and wouldn't be back for weeks.

Ended up killing himself and his family.
