Can someone please help me cause i know that potassium nitrate is just the basic explosion but botassium nitrate makes a diffrent color and they are both salt based nitrates and there are others that make different colors.

I don't think that "botassium nitrate" does exist. Correct me if I'm wrong but the Merck Index doesn't know this compound...

It doesn't exist, it was probably a typo. Either that, or he was thinking of Barium Nitrate, which will produce a green colour when mixed with suitable fuels. Off the top of my head, Potassium salts will produce a purple/white colour, Strontium salts will produce red, Sodium yellow. As for blue, copper salts used as fuels will accomplish this.

barium nitrate = green
strontium nitrate = red
Iron filings (sp?) = white/gold sparks
Titanium filings = blue
Sodium salts = yellow
copper sulphate = green/blue/not sure
go to skylighter and pyrotek, they tell you what colour is what, and so on.

strontium carbonate burns red also
magnesium and aluminum burn blindingly white
copper nitrate burns blue and sometimes blue green.
