Having looked through several websites, including this one I have barely found any information pertaining to Explosively Formed Penetrators, or EFP for short.
This seems to be a relatively simple concept, a ranged shaped charge basically. Instead of using a cone shaped liner, the EFP uses a concave dish shaped one.
Apparently, the liner being this shape leads it to forming a metallic projectile that could defeat armor at extreme ranges. It has a less penetrating power then a normal shaped charge,
but it can be used at a significantly greater distance.

Here is the wikipedia page from which I got most of my information :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Explosively_formed_penetrator
It gives a general overview on the subject.
If you scroll down on this wikipeida page, it gives some more info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaped_charge

I am surprised at the lack of information about this kind of weapon on this forum, and the Internet in general.
It seems that the insurgents in Iraq are using EFP's to destroy armor, so they cannot be that hard to manufacture
According to a patent I found,

Finally, a youtube video showing what happens during detonation:

There is plenty of videos of them exploding in Iraq.

EFP's can be designed to make different kinds of projectiles, including rods or slugs, but it should not be that hard to make one of these at home.
Has anyone had any experience, or some more detailed technical knowledge on this matter?

One word: UTFSE!

There is plenty about EFPs, much of it from NBK's keyboard.
