I grabbed a file from the FTP called “LSS_Locksmith_Government_License.rar” and I stuck in my uncategorized folder since I have no idea what it is. I found a website yesterday (http://ezpicking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=533) that talked about the file being from roguesci.org and that it may be some license file for a software app. What is this file for exactly? What program, if indeed it is a program, does this license unlock? I just want to know what this thing does and where to properly organize the file.

LSS is a locksmith program that is a collection of entry techniques for locksmiths & government-LEO types (entering buildings, etc). It's a collection of short videos that describe the techniques. MOST of them demand a background in basic locksmithing and a familiarity with the tools of the trade. Some of them make use of VERY unique tools to implement the entry or lock defeat.

The program was made by a company that marketed to a dissimilar group of government and private locksmiths. The program is also a marketing plug for some of the tools displayed.

The program has gradations of access: the "highest" being the "government" level because supposedly the techniques could be misused.....like anything could NOT be misused? The little files are access codes for the grades therein.

Ahh, LSS+ infobase, is that the one? I don't suppose this material is available for download? I read it is a 10 CD collection of material for the full gov package. There is a pdf on the FTP that looks like a printout of this database, but no multimedia content.

I may not be using the right search terms because I didn't even find out who sell this thing. Perhaps it is already on the FTP and I missed it?

Some where around here I have both the program & the PDF. If you don't have access to a copy, let me know, I'll upload it.

Just took a look at it, not currently installed & I can't figure out what version it is from the files. I seem to remember from when I had it installed before that it's an encrypted database (folio infobase?) with 3 or 4 levels of security, each level revealing more data. It seems the PDF only has the info in the lowest level. Would be nice to have a working unlock code...

/edit:
Feh! Even with unlock codes, it's probably only the public version, 700MB compressed.

from their website:
LSS+ CD ROM COMPLETE SET

PUBLIC version of LSS+ (includes two disks) $275.00

LOCKSMITH version of LSS+ (includes six disks) $350.00

GOVERNMENT version of LSS+ (includes fourteen disks) $600.00

The key is for the LSS+ 1.0 Folio database by Marc Tobias.

The full government version is indeed 10 CDROMs, but that includes all multimedia material.

The only version that I'm aware of that is available on the Internet is a single disc, 620MB version that usually goes by the filename of 'LSS_Locksmith', which is the LSS Locksmith version, stripped of all multimedia content.

If somebody has the full 10 disc gov. collection, please share it with us, since it is very hard to find a government agency that will provide a pirated copy ;)

The PDF is the digital version of the book by Tobias: Locks, safes & security 5

Nope you didn’t miss it, it’s not on the ftp.
Last time I went thru all the folders was a weak ago. And it is very likely that it won’t be for some time, http://ezpicking.com/forum/showthread.php?t=784 .Seeing how Mr. Tobias is sow respected by even some
(I’m assuming by user names) members of the E&W forum, and he truly deserves it, I’ve read some
LLS+ and hands down it’s the ultimate material in security that I’m aware of.

That’s all nice and good, but that’s not going to get my poor ass or the community’s ass, the book.
30 hours of video missing from the locksmith version. I certainly regret reading that bit of info,
I hated wen I got that LSS+ infobase not found, look’s like the good stuff too.

http://www.security.org/ And if you really need to be from an US governmental agency,
probably FBI or otters, to perches those CD’s or DVD then were screwed.

Personally I wasn't impressed. The government presentation was a collection of very expensive, format specific tools that are alarm specific, bla, bla. Yes, he makes a huge deal over "granting" access to government employees or what have you but so could anyone create a folio database (actually an insecure format! - you can knock it down) or whatever and claim to have top secret-squirrel shit and shush everyone with a finger to their lips about it's contents. No fucking way would I pay for the material therein.

I either own or have had a chance to view almost all of Marc Tobias's materials so I am talking from experiance.

Marc Tobias is the creator of Locks Safes and Security. Its also called LSS

Its available as a book or a collection of cd-roms or a dvd . This is known as LSS+CD

Its easy to get confused when talking about LSS locks safes and security

There are 2 editions of the actual book The 1st edition was published in the 1970s
It was very limited in content.

The book people talk about today is the 2nd edition published in 2002. It was a huge book with some 40 chapters and having over 1200 pages of text and black and white photographs.

In addition to the books, there have been a series of cdroms produced that have content from the origional books plus a lot more content added and a series of videos to complete the package.

The cd-roms were sold in 3 security levels, public, locksmith and government. The first cd of all cd-rom collections was identical

With the use of license codes what was viewable and what was hidden could be controled.

The first cd contained a file that could be thought of as a huge pdf file protected with
license keys. The software used was Folio Views and all files under this system have the
extention .nfo. Only folioviews.exe will open these files.

Version 4.05 of LSS had a free demo of the entire contentless the videos. This was and is still easly found on line. The demo was limited to 3 days.It was at the locksmith level.

Version 5 of LSS also had a free demo but you had to register with the author for a key code to view content.

Now what is often found online as well, is a keygen to create your own security license.
Some people just share a premade license file (.lcf file) that enables access to one or more of the 3 levels of infomation.

One of the other files frequently found on line is a pdf produced by extracting the entire content of cd-rom at the locksmith or government level. This .pdf is often over 3000 pages long and has content in full color. The book has mainly black and white images.

Someone on this very site was offering a high quality scan of the actual book, not the cd content.

This whole series is now at a higher version and now is distributed on one DVD. A lot of new videos at all security levels are available.

Available online is

1) Locks Safes and Security 2nd edition, the 1200 page book scanned as a pdf.
2) The first cd of the cd-rom collection either 4.05 or version 5.0
3) A precompiled license file granting various access privleges
4) A keygen program for creating custom license files.

Very hard to find are online versions of the videos that go with the collection.

If you are interested this is a pdf showing what is included with LSS +CD

Anyone has the keygen program for creating custom license files that Hemisync (Hemisync, maybe you?) talks about.

I could not find it anywhere....

I am going to try to use in the Government version.

Thanks.
