The old key has been giving me trouble with the PGP software.
Here is the new key. A copy named TMP2008.asc exists in the FTP root.

PGP keys do not seem to work right in this new version of the board, which might be due to the default template. Members are allowed to attach txt files with keys, as well as files with a pgp extension. Otherwise, wrap the key in code tags as I did above and it should work.

Many of you are aware that PGP can create self decrypting achieves. Just like a compression program, it requires a single entry of a decrypt and that encrypted material can be binary. Creativity can place this into a "one-time-pad" dynamic by using a section of your public key. "line 5; start @ 5th symbol, end @ 21th symbol" allows the recipient to decrypt without having to even know the decrypt key. The element is the agreed upon sequence.

So if the recipient receives a sequence at a previous time of "line 5; start@ 5th symbol, end @ 21th symbol" via something like: "Read Proverbs, 5:5:21, there's something I think you'd like" .....that person gets a one-time-pad decrypt. He then knows that the following material will be OTP opening decrypt of 5:5:21. Perhaps months in the future he uses this to open a binary. Of course, the sequence is not used again.

Many people used to believe that the alteration of a extension prevented anyone from opening a binary but a hex view will reveal the "MZ" header from an ".exe" file or a similar header or footer from graphics, compressed material, etc. Self-extracting PGP or similar programs cant be opened even if the MZ header was identified by a casual hex view. This could also be extrapolated to opening an encrypted zip but that crap can be broken by a good dual-core machine with a newer dictionary/ascii collection (especially the GNU open source Websters/ascii)

Most *nix users wouldn't even bother with that there is a nifty utility called file which determines the filetype of a file by examining it. anyone w/ a little shell scripting experiece could write a one-liner that would check all the file in a directoy, tree, or a list in a file.
