Amazon seems to have recently launched a special department for science and engineering fields:

It can't be terribly new, I have been using it for at least a year now. I didn't use Amazon much as a source prior to the past year, so I can't say for sure how long it has been around before that.

I find it very frustrating to browse Amazon because of how they organize their links. Rather how they disorganize their links. There is no intuitive price sifting or filtering system in place to remove unwanted results as in ebay and froogle. Even Newegg.com is easier to find products than Amazon.

I particularly dislike their insistence on using the most "relevant" results. What is most relevant to me is the cheapest product, not the most expensive top seller!
