I am hoping to make some nitric acid, but i have only household ingredients available. i have heard that one can use urine but am not sure how to presumably extract the ammonia or produce nitric acid from this. help, please? :D

Really? Fucking really?

We have an ENTIRE section devoted to this, never mind the bountiful threads.

If you want nitric acid, start by collecting the urine. Then drink it. Your body will naturally refine it into nitric.

Naw, I believe the 12th century method should work. Mix urine with ground meat and a little mud in a stoppered wine flagon. Pack it well in a dung heap and store in the back stall of the barn for 6 months. If it does not explode, distill indoors on a stove until only essence of niter remains. Or is that the method for phosphorus? Regardless, make sure to distill it indoors, preferably in winter so there are no air drafts...
