What's the minimun "concentration" of sodium nitrate fertilizer grade ? and/or pottassium/ammonium nitrate...

thanx...

What exactly do you mean? Minimum concentration that you can buy, or minimum needed to use for explosives/incindiaries? As for the minimum you can buy, I'd guess you could find percentages of pure KNO3 or NaNO3 as low as 5-10%... there's a hell of a lot of different blends of fertilizers out there!

On the bag (sodium nitrate) is wrote :
- AZOTE NITRIQUE (NITRIC AZOT in english huh ?) NO3: 16%
- Oxyde de sodium (sodium oxyde...) Na2O : 35%

see ya !

I use this stuff called Nitrate of Soda. It is prilled and it is coated in some shit. Just purify by crystallization.

soda = sodium so nitrate of soda = sodium nitrate http://theforum.virtualave.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif....dam i hate the fucking old chemical names.

5kg.
They break it down when writing out what it contains into (normally) nitrogen and K2O or Na2O.
On my bag of KNO3 it says: 13.5% N, 46.2% K2O, even though it actually contains no K2O.
So what you have is more-or-less pure NaNO3.

Alright, thanx.
Even if it is relatively pure, sometimes, I can find some dark particles which are impurities, do you think there is a way to purify this fertilizer ? I've heard a method where the guy dissolved NaNO3 in water then he boiled down this solution or he filter it, I can't remember... What do you think ?

This how i do it:-
Boil some water in a pan (about 1/4 full)
When boiling dissolve as much NaNO3 as you can and then remove heat. Filter when hot and your filtrate will be placed in a frige. This will cool down the solution and NaNO3 will crystallize out.
Is this good or does anyone else have a better meyhod?

Considering how soluble NaNO3 is, it's likely that the impurities would crystalise out first. So using the above method you'd get all your impurities back, with less NaNO3 than you started with (still dissolved). So you'd actually make your NaNO3 less pure.

What brand of fertilizer is rocket grade kno3?

Mr Cool

It depends how pure you want your "rocket grade" KNO3 to be. That isn't a standard measure of purity...

Has anyone got a better method to purify this NaNO3 fertilizer?

no idea, but anthony is right cause, even if you dissolve the fertilizer, when you filter your solution, impurities are still here !

see ya...
