Alen,I think there is a need for correction.Trioxane is also called trioxymethylene (CH2O)3 or(C3H6O3)empirically,a trimer of formaldehyde.Three methylene symmetrically arranged to form a hexagon with oxygen atoms in between. In comparison paraformaldehyde (CH2O)n a polymer of formaldehyde.
Trioxane is also called 1,3,5 trioxymethylene;or just plain S-TRIOXANE(symmetrical trioxane) so it is not hexamine.as it does not contain nitrogen.Hexamine is hexamethylenetetramine(CH2)6N4 a formaldehyde product with ammonia..
Check this ;

Seehttp://www.mpcfaculty.net/mark_bishop/combustion_analysis.htm for some explanation in difference between trioxane,formaldehyde and paraformaldehyde;further combustion analysis also that show the empirical formula.

Trioxane can also be used to make RDX .Check Patent # 3,937,703

I stand corrected. on the box of heating tablets it said trioxane and on the back it said it was hexamine.
