Yeah I'm looking for material that is
mouldable and will stay elastic after it's set. I'm using it for personalizing a target gun grip.

Would be even better if I can vary the
elasticity so I can have better grip without
it peeling. Thanx for input.

Silicone sealant for aquarium tanks, maybe? Sets to a rubbery solid. You'd have to make a mold the shape of the inside of your grip and use that to cast it, unless you want to cast it directly into your hand and wait 48 hours for it to set...

Not an elastic rubber, but I've heard of it being used for molded handgrips.

It's called "Friendly Plastic" and is sold at hobby craft and art supply stores for ~$15/pound.

You pour the pellets into hot water till they soften, mold it into whatever shape you want, and it cools into a hard plastic.

It can be reheated over and over again.

Redneck plastic; Use a solvent (gasoline works fine) to dissolve an old pair of shoes soles, when it drys out (which takes for-fucking-ever) its really easy on the hands.

If all else fails, slip a length of Bike tire
innertube over the grip sealing it in place with a permanent adhesive, you can then use a soldering iron to melt some finger grips.

you also could try the rubber stuff which is used for making moulds for tin soldiers it stays "soft" after harden out, if you want to have "PatchMayer" grip style you can take the
rubber of a cheap "ping-pong" bat and glue it on the wooden handle it isalmost the same surface as PatchMayer grips
