Im sorry if this sounds stupid, but if 1 could get his hands on pure dimethylamine hydrochloride could he not just make it the into the freebase form and then extracting that into some non-polar liquid and use that non-polar wherever it is needed?

no-one answered becoz you have not asked a direct question...

do you mean creating the freebase from the salt then using it in the NP for aminations on MDP2P? and alike...

Yes you could but why bother? just dissolve the MDP2P (for example) and amine salt in methanol and dump that into the reducer whichever it may be (ie Al/Hg mix).

I was more focused about the DMT synthesis via tryptophol with PBr3 (via 3-(2-bromoethyl)indole) into dmt.
So one could use an anhydrous form dimehtylamine wether it be salt or the freebase in that particular synth?

Of course you can use dimethylamine in an unreactive solvent instead of pure dimethylamine (which by the way has a rather low boiling point - 7.4°C). Just make sure you choose a solvent compatible with the reaction you have in mind. Diethyl ether is a good solvent for diethylamine, as is THF.
